How can a wiki be used to improve a classroom

Just like any other internet or computer base activity, students will be highly excited to do the activity. For my wiki, I used a notebook template. Using this template, the students can view the wiki as additional notes from the teacher without the teacher dictating the notes to them. The information will always be there so at any time prior to testing, the students are free to view the information on line. View and studying the information on line, gives the students a positive reason to use the internet. So I would use a wiki to give additional information, videos and URL to other sites with related information for my accounting class.

Reflection

For this portfolio a wiki from wikispaces was created. It was a challenge for me to get familiar with the features and gadgets available with the wiki. Once I got accustoms to them creating and designing my wiki was a simple task. The templates available were very boring to me. This piece could have been improved by adding a better template that would attract the students more. There should have been a way for us to design our templates instead of just changing the colours only. If there is a way for us to create our own templates, then that is a challenge that I will overcome in the future.

How can a movie maker be used in a classroom

Using a movie maker in a classroom can help enhance the learning process. This video editing help the students to get a visual feeling of what the business world is like without being in the actual business office. For my accounting class, I gave the students a visual of the three different types of business by show some characteristics of each through the picture. While enjoying the animations and seeing different characteristics through not only humanistic pictures but through pictures with animals showing these characteristics, the student will be mesmerized with a soft instrumental music in the background.

For this portfolio piece a Movie Maker Video Editing was produced. The movie maker will be uses to show students in my POA class visual pictures of three different types of business. Finding pictures and an appropriate music was a great challenge for me. By adding narration to this piece could have made this piece better.

Usage of my blog

Buzzworld Educational blog will be used to keep parents posted on the latest activities that takes place in the classroom. It will also be used to post home work and give additional readings and recommend  sites to enhance their learning. The blog will also be used to guide students to other links that  will give them fun and games related to the topics that we are currently using in class. A discussion on these fun and games will be done the very next class after it was given. Children loves technology and are more verse than most of us. Therefore using the internet will help them better understand the instructions or lesson that is being taught. Meeting the  students at the level to which they understand (technology) will better help them to learn.

Just some thoughts

I believe that education is all about being excited about something. Seeing passion and enthusiasm helps push an educational message.
